A comprehensive evaluation (60-90 minutes) is very important for those with a suspected communication disorder. Norm and/or criterion-referenced assessments will be used to compare your child's skills to others of his/her same age. Specific areas of assessment are based on screening results and/or expressed concerns.
If an evaluation has been completed within the last 6 months, or your child has an up-to-date Individualized Education Plan, information from these documents can be used to develop a Plan of Care. In such cases, the need for additional standardized assessments may not be necessary.
The length of therapy sessions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. The Speech Language Pathologist will work with you to develop a customized treatment program to meet the individual needs of your child. Speech therapy sessions may be 30-60 minutes and the recommended frequency of services will depend on the child's age, the disorder(s), and the individualized treatment plan we recommend. Please note that some of the session may be devoted to parent/caregiver discussion and coaching.
We can accept Health savings accounts (HSAs) and flexible spending accounts (FSAs), however we do not bill insurance. We are happy to provide a superbill in order for you to receive reimbursement from your insurance. FSA and HSA payments accepted. All sessions fees need to be paid at the time of service.
What is a Superbill?
Even when a provider is “out-of-network”, services can still be eligible for insurance coverage. A superbill is an itemized receipt that contains information that your insurance company will need to process claims and provide you with reimbursement. This is different from a typical invoice as it provides additional information, such as diagnosis codes, procedural codes, dates of service, and other pertinent session information.
Southern Speech Pediatrics is an approved provider for specialized services covered under the Family Empowerment Scholarship for students with Unique Abilities. We can bill Step Up for Students directly for your child's Speech therapy services.
